BANGLADESH SHISHU ADHIKAR FORUM (BSAF)
Ten Years Plan (2004-2014)

Objectives:

As a national network of NGOs for the child rights in Bangladesh the BSAF has the following objectives:

  1. Promote the rights of the child within the contexts of the UN convention;
    Raise awareness and influence public opinion on CRC;
  2. Provide a channel of communication and facilitate the sharing of information, material experiences and resources among people and organizations involved in child rights issues;
  3. Coordinate action amongst MNGOs;
  4. Seek new ways for establishing the rights of the child within the context of UNCRC;
  5. Advocate and monitor implement of all international conventions and standards which contribute to the elimination of worst form of child labour, Lack of Children Participation, Trafficking of Children, Domestic Violence and Sexual Exploitation of Children, Vulnerability of Children from HIV/AIDS, Street Children;
  6. Lobby and monitor the implementation of government’s commitment to free, quality, meaningful and compulsory education, consistent with the Jomtien and Dakar declarations of education for all, and synchronizing it with minimum age of entry into the labour force;
  7. Lobby for enacting laws that focus on children in agriculture, domestic work and, commercial sexual exploitation and in the informal sector;
    Stop child abuse and exploitation and trafficking of Children;
  8. Understand the situation of children in armed (terrorists) conflict, and develop and promote strategies for their protection, focusing on children as zones of peace;
  9. Institutionalize children’s participation as enshrined in the UNCRC, making children as partners in the BSAF networks and programs and establishing parliament for children
  10. Promote protection and participation of children;
  11. Build up of BSAF secretariat;
  12. Build the capacity of the network in research, documentation, information, and advocacy to influence legislation and mobilize community actions on UNCRC;
  13. Strengthen NGOs cooperation, children’s organizations and other civil society groups working in the field of children;
  14. Bring all organizations, working with children in Bangladesh, into the BSAF network.
  15. Eliminate gender discrimination in child Survival and Development;
  16. Promote the provision of equal access to the basic services including adequate recreational facilities;
  17. Promote a pollution free environment;
  18. Create a positive (superstition–free) environment for the disabled (Physically and mentally) children;
  19. Create general awareness about CRC issues with particular focus on Girl child, Worst form of Child labor, trafficking, vulnerability of HIV/Aids, Street children, participation of children in all respects and sexual abuse through advocacy and networking; and
  20. Provide technical supports and services to the member organizations.

The Director General of NGO Bureau visited BSAF

Mr. Alimushshan (Director General of NGO Affairs Bureau) visited BSAF Secretariat on 25 January 2007. Mr. A.Y.M. Mosharraf Hossain (Director, BSAF) welcomed him. During his short visit the Director introduced other staff of BSAF with him and informed him about the activities of BSAF through its MNGOs. The Coordinators of the three projects of BSAF detailed the activities of their respective projects. Mr. Pranab Kumar
(Assignment Officer of NGO Affairs Bureau) was also present with him.
